Hello and welcome to Equity, the startup business podcast where we reveal the numbers and nuances behind the headlines.

This is our Wednesday show where we focus on one topic, think about one issue and reveal the rest. This week, in light of the biennial Y Combinator Demo Day, Natasha As well as Alex He asked about the benefits of the field parade. Our big question:

Demo days outdated?

This question came after Natasha’s last Startup Weekly column, in which she explored the trends of everyone who is trying to constantly innovate in startup accelerators. We’ve seen everything from in-person events to virtual pitch atons, effort recordings and more. You name it, it’s been tried.

Today’s show is a continuation of that conversation, especially given how the demo days have helped the Founders in the past and how strong they are in the present. There are a number of factors that have messed things up, including the proliferation of accelerators, the pre-funding boom, and the pandemic that is making programming disappear. We also ask, who are demo days for?

Hear how we ended up, who we disagreed with, and what the founders focused on today.
